Disown

disown removes a process from its parent process, allowing it to continue after the parent exits.

tweedleburg:~ # firefox &
[5] 32702
tweedleburg:~ # disown
bash: warning: deleting stopped job 1 with process group 18228
[5]   Done                    firefox
tweedleburg:~ # exit
