To configure your Print Screen key within KDE, open a console and call

systemsettings

Then select "Shortcuts and Gestures" -> "Custom Shortcuts" -> "Preset Actions" -> "PrintScreen"

This setting determines if the program ksnapshot will be called or not when you press the key.
