Eclipse

This article describes how to run eclipse on Linux. It takes eclipse Ganymed and SUSE Linux 11.1 as an example.

• make sure you have more than 1GB RAM available
• install eclipse

yast -i eclipse

• call eclipse

tweedleburg:~ # java -version
java version "1.6.0_0"
IcedTea6 1.4 (suse-24.5.2-x86_64) Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b14)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b08, mixed mode)
tweedleburg:~ # cd eclipse/
tweedleburg:~/eclipse # ./eclipse

• if you want to develop C++, download the CDT from http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/releases/eclipse3.1/dist/3.0.2/
